Velo-Rail du Bocage

Mayenne, Pays de la Loire

The Vélo-Rail du Bocage is at Saint-Loup-du-Gast, in the Mayenne, in the former SNCF station. It lets you travel by pedal-powered draisine along a stretch of disused railway, for a ride of 6 kilometres round trip.

The route is punctuated by panels presenting the history of railways, the viaduct, fauna and flora. It crosses the Rosserie viaduct, which overlooks the river Mayenne. Each rail-bike carries four adults and a child under five, with two people pedalling. Two draisines are adapted for people with reduced mobility, and dogs on a lead are accepted.

On site, a bar with a covered area offers drinks and ice creams. Hiking paths start from the surroundings towards Lac de Haute Mayenne and the Vaux park, at Ambrières-les-Vallées. The activity is seasonal, from April to October, and suits families as well as groups, who must book.
