Château du Bois Thibault
The Château du Bois Thibault, at Lassay-les-Châteaux in the Mayenne, is a 15th-century fortress now in ruins, in the middle of the countryside. The commune acquired the remains and the site in 1988.
The association 'Bois Thibault, passé et avenir' merged with the Lassay cultural association under the name 'Amis de Bois Thibault'. Its volunteers maintain the site, open it to the public in season and offer self-guided or guided visits. Events are held here, such as a medieval weekend in summer and the European Heritage Days.
The site is on the Domfront road. The spectacular ruins help to understand the layout of a late medieval seigneurial residence.
