Château de Bourgon
The Château de Bourgon is at Montourtier, in the commune of Montsûrs-en-Mayenne. Rebuilt in the 15th century, it is protected as a historic monument: the château, its chapel and its entrance system have been listed since 1996, and the outbuildings, courtyard, gardens and moats since 1994. The outbuildings date from the late 18th century.
Inside, the painted bedroom has a trompe-l'œil ceiling imitating a tapestry, dating from the first quarter of the 17th century, and a former painted closet also has a 17th-century ceiling. According to the tourist office, the blue closet, decorated with floral paintings in 1625, belonged to the Marquise de Sablé. The salon has kept its décor from around 1830. The château also offers guest rooms and takes part in the European Heritage Days.
