Saint-Amand-de-Coly
Saint-Amand-de-Coly is a village of the Dordogne, ranked among the Most Beautiful Villages of France, part since 2019 of the new commune of Coly-Saint-Amand. It is about twenty kilometres from Sarlat and a few steps from Lascaux, set between two wooded valleys.
Its twelfth-century abbey church, considered the most beautiful fortified church of the Périgord, watches over the village houses. These are made, like it, of Sarlat stone and lauze roofs typical of the region, in a harmonious contrast of ochre and grey tones. The village is discovered on foot in about an hour and combines with the visit of the Vézère valley.
