Rochers de Brignogan
Brignogan-Plages lies on the Côte des Légendes, in the Finistère. The granite base outcrops everywhere in large rocks that cut up the coastline, while the large beach spreads in the bay of Pontusval. A lighthouse was built there in 1869 to secure a coast whose reefs long claimed victims, in an area once called the Pagan Country and associated with wreck salvage.
Nearby, in the neighbouring commune of Kerlouan, the hamlet of Meneham grew up around an old coastguard post, nestled between enormous granite blocks. Its thatched houses are a popular walking destination. The Men Marz menhir, christianised over the centuries by a cross, completes the prehistoric heritage of this stretch of coast.
