Puycelsi

Tarn, Occitanie

Puycelsi is a perched village of the Tarn, in the Gaillacois, ranked among the Most Beautiful Villages of France. It remains nestled within its 800 metres of ramparts, flanked by towers and pierced by fortified gates, miraculously preserved after many sieges, those of Simon de Montfort's crusaders then the Huguenots.

Nearby, the Grésigne forest, rich in flora and fauna, keeps behind the remains of Louis XIV's wall, with which Colbert encircled it, the secrets of the art of its master glassmakers. The village is visited on foot, in about an hour, and its viewpoint over the Tarn countryside is one of its great assets.
