Pont de Spina Cavallo
The Spina Cavallo bridge, in the Corse-du-Sud, owes its name, literally 'horse's spine' in Corsican, to its narrow, humped deck recalling the back of a horse, an unusual shape among the island's Genoese and Pisan bridges.
Built in the 13th century over the Rizzanese, it bears witness to the network of medieval crossings that once linked the valleys of the Alta Rocca and the Sartenais. At its foot, a small sandy beach allows swimming in calm turquoise water, in a peaceful setting just minutes from Sartène, the granite town nicknamed the most Corsican of Corsican towns.
