Parc Zoologique de Paris
The Paris Zoological Park, often called the Vincennes zoo, is in the Bois de Vincennes. Inaugurated in 1934, it has been entirely renovated and organised around five biozones that recreate natural environments, over about fourteen hectares: Patagonia, Sahel-Sudan, Europe, Guiana-Amazonia and Madagascar.
Patagonia hosts rheas, guanacos and maras, as well as sea lions and penguins in glass pools, and an Andean forest with pumas and pudus. Sahel-Sudan, the largest area, presents a herd of West African giraffes, a white rhinoceros, ostriches, Guinea baboons and marabou storks.
The zoo highlights conservation of threatened species and public awareness. The walking route is pleasant and suits all ages. A practical outing for Parisian families.
