Palais du Rhin

Bas-Rhin, Grand Est

A former imperial palace built between 1884 and 1889 in Strasbourg, in the Bas-Rhin, the Palais du Rhin now houses the regional cultural affairs office for Alsace and the Central Commission for Navigation on the Rhine.

Built after the annexation of Alsace and part of Lorraine by the German Second Reich, the palace then embodied the renewal of the city. Located in the heart of the Neustadt, outside the 17th-century walls, it has a façade more than 73 metres long bordering the new Place de la République.
