Musée historique de Mulhouse

Haut-Rhin, Grand Est

The Historical Museum is housed in the former Town Hall. Created in 1864, it has since developed in three directions: local archaeology, the history of Mulhouse and southern Alsace, and the folk art of the Sundgau. The collections on the history of Mulhouse naturally took their place in the parts of the Town Hall that kept their old decoration. An important collection of costumes and furniture has made it possible to reconstruct a number of middle-class interiors of different eras. The folk art gallery presents the reconstruction of a Sundgau bedroom and kitchen, as well as many craft and sculpture objects. The museum also presents an important collection of toys. The archaeological collections have moved into the Grenier d'Abondance.
