Musée Camille-Claudel
The Camille Claudel museum, at Nogent-sur-Seine (Aube), opened its doors in 2017. It is the first museum in France devoted to the sculptor, set in a group of buildings that includes the house where she lived as a teenager.
The route presents an important set of her works, of the order of forty-five pieces according to sources, including Perseus and the Gorgon, her only monumental marble, and a bust of Rodin. These works, gathered through purchases from descendants of the Claudel family and researchers, are placed in a panorama of French sculpture from 1880 to 1914, with artists such as Paul Dubois, Alfred Boucher, Jules Dalou, Antoine Bourdelle or Marius Richer. The museum also houses the former holdings of the Dubois-Bouchet museum.
The public can use audioguides or guided tours. All year round, the museum organises children's workshops, lectures, readings, screenings and shows.
