Moulin du Got
The Moulin du Got, in the Haute-Vienne, is a watermill founded in 1522. It produced rag paper, made from hemp, linen and cotton left to soak in water for a few weeks before being worked into paper.
Later the paper was made from straw, which was plentiful in the Limousin. Finally the mill produced cardboard for toys, packaging and suitcases until 1954, when it closed for good. Like all the other mills of the Limousin, it was then abandoned as unprofitable.
