Centre de la mémoire d'Oradour-sur-Glane

Haute-Vienne, Nouvelle-Aquitaine

The Memorial Centre of Oradour-sur-Glane, in the Haute-Vienne, presents in five exhibition spaces the historical reality of the Oradour tragedy and its significance: the rise of Nazism, the French defeat, collaboration and resistance, the policy of terror, the days of 8 and 9 June 1944, and the account of the massacre of 10 June.

The route then covers national recognition, the trials and the amnesty, the rebuilding of Oradour, and a reflection on the tragedy. Outside the centre stands the statue by the sculptor Fenosa dedicated to the martyrs of Oradour-sur-Glane. The deeply moving visit is completed by the martyred village itself.
