How to describe a giant? From 350 m to 1,912 m altitude, how to describe its diversity? From Mediterranean climate to alpine climate, 950 plant species, more than 100 bird species, temperature differences of up to 20 °C from its base to the summit. Its summit, with bare, stony slopes, is crowned by an observatory, which makes it recognisable from more than 100 km around. Reforested under Napoleon III around 1860, its forest is admirable: larches, firs, Austrian black pines, mountain pines, Aleppo pines... between 800 and 1,600 m. At its base, you find Mediterranean plants, vines, olive trees, holm oaks, thyme, lavender...
