Les gorges du Régalon
Near Cavaillon, in the commune of Cheval-Blanc, at the place called "La Tuillère", the Régalon Gorges open. After crossing the olive grove that surrounds the entrance to this rock fault, you will enter the bowels of the Luberon...
These gorges, 2 kilometres long, form an extraordinary canyon 30 metres high, often dark, whose narrowness sometimes allows only one person to pass at a time... Progress along this stony path requires, in places, a little climbing.
The Régalon Gorges are part of the Luberon State Forest. The site's exceptional interest justified its classification as a Biological Reserve by the Office National des Forêts. The high ground humidity and lack of light that reign at the bottom of this defile create a microclimate favourable to the development of particular and abundant vegetation: box, elder, ivy reach remarkable sizes here.
