Gorges de la nesque

The gorges road is magnificent; it links Sault to Villes-sur-Auzon. It is little used by cars because the shortest road to join these two villages goes via the Col des Abeilles. There are also three small tunnels that prevent the passage of lorries and caravans. The road surface is perfect. 22 km separate Villes-sur-Auzon from Monieux.

I advise starting from Villes-sur-Auzon to enjoy the scenery better. Going up towards Monieux, the gorges are on your right, better visible and easier for stopping.

The photo is taken from the belvedere (734 m), the high point of the gorges; two km further down you reach Monieux and another 3 km to reach Sault. At the back of the photo, the south face of Mont Ventoux.
