Mas gallo-romain des Tourelles
The Mas des Tourelles is a family wine estate at Beaucaire, in the Gard, producing Costières-de-Nîmes and Pays d'Oc wines. Its buildings, a Provençal courtyard, sheepfolds and a farmer's house, date from the eighteenth century.
The estate is set near a Gallo-Roman archaeological site. A Gallo-Roman cellar with its dolia has been reconstructed there, at full scale, to bring back to life the taste of the wines of Antiquity. The visit includes this cellar, an exhibition, a garden and the archaeological site, with a film and a tasting.
The mas offers packages for individual visitors, groups and school classes, as well as educational workshops (oil lamp, mosaic). Events punctuate the year: Roman grape harvest, Heritage Days, gourmet markets.
