Les Loups de Chabrières
Les Loups de Chabrières is a wildlife park devoted to the wolf, in the Chabrières forest near Guéret, in the Creuse. Created in 2001 by the Grand Guéret urban community to strengthen the local tourist offer, it stands out for its landscape approach, the size of its enclosures and the low density of wolves, which makes it unusual in France.
The wolves live in semi-freedom, in packs spread over large enclosures. A shady trail with information points and viewing posts allows visitors to watch them discreetly. It is designed to be accessible to children and pushchairs.
The visit is completed by a museum space on wolf behaviour and the legends surrounding it, a video room, a mini farm and a film shot on site. Guided tours with the keepers, feeding sessions and night-time events are offered according to the calendar. The park also hosts biology students for field studies.
