Les Gorges de Daluis
The Daluis gorges, in the Alpes-Maritimes, are carved by the Var in red Permian pelites, more than 250 million years old. This red rock, contrasted with the green of the water and of the pines, earns them the nickname "Colorado of Nice". The walls reach about 300 metres in height.
The site, located mostly in the commune of Guillaumes, with a part at Daluis, is a regional nature reserve of more than 1,000 hectares, listed in 2012. It can be discovered by car, on a spectacular road forming part of the Daluis and Cians gorges circuit, but also on foot: a short path leads to the Point Sublime, while the Clue d'Amen loop takes half a day. Several stops on the Route des Grandes Alpes serve as starting points for other routes.
