les cascades de Murel
The Murel waterfalls are in the commune of Albussac, in the Corrèze. They are formed by the Franche Valeine, a stream that flows into the Souvigne. From upstream to downstream, you meet the Prade fall, about 25 metres high, the Grande Cascade of 13 metres, then two small falls of 4 and 1.5 metres, in a setting of wooded gorges.
Marked paths, starting from Albussac or Forgès, lead to the falls through the Corrèze forest. The site has been listed since a decree of 16 April 1980, after being recognised as a ZNIEFF. A local legend says the devil threw the old bells of Albussac to the bottom of the Grande Cascade basin.
