Cascade de la Queue de Cheval

Corrèze, Nouvelle-Aquitaine

The Queue de Cheval waterfall forms, with the Grande Cascade and the Redole, the famous series of falls that gave its name to the village of Gimel-les-Cascades, in the Corrèze. Its name, 'horse's tail', comes from the slender shape the water takes as it divides over the rock before joining the Montane, in a setting of densely wooded granite gorges.

The site, among the first natural sites protected in France, in 1912, is explored by a path that follows all three waterfalls.
