Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne
Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne is a town in the Corrèze, on the bank of the Dordogne, ranked among the Most Beautiful Villages of France. It grew around a Benedictine abbey: its abbey church of Saint-Pierre, Romanesque in style, is famous for its carved tympanum, one of the most remarkable of the Limousin. The medieval lanes, turreted houses, covered markets and old mansions form a very homogeneous ensemble.
At the water's edge, the Penitents' chapel is reflected in the Dordogne, one of the most photographed viewpoints. You can stroll there, go down to the riverbank and continue discovering the Dordogne valley, towards Collonges-la-Rouge, Turenne or Carennac.
