Le Pic de Nore
The Pic de Nore peaks at 1,211 m and is the highest point of the Montagne Noire, on the borders of the Aude and the Tarn. Pradelles-Cabardès spreads at its foot, and several climbing roads start notably from Mazamet, Villeneuve-Minervois, Cabrespine, Mas-Cabardès or Villegly. Its rounded shapes and the violent winds that sweep it have earned it the nickname "little Ventoux".
In clear weather, the panorama is very wide: you can make out the Pyrenees with the Canigou, the Aude valley, the Mediterranean, the Corbières, the Monts de Lacaune and the Toulouse plain. A viewpoint indicator helps you identify the distant sights. At the summit also stands a 102 m high transmitter, which broadcasts FM radio and digital television signals. The site lends itself to a panoramic stop or a hike in the heart of the Montagne Noire.
