Grotte de Limousis
The Limousis cave, in the Aude, is the largest developed cave in the Cathar Aude. It is in the commune of Limousis, in the Montagne Noire, a massif that forms the southern edge of the Massif Central. The commune is near the Clamoux gorges.
It is mainly famous for its fine concretions: calcite and aragonite crystals, eccentrics, soda straws. This underground environment is exceptional for its beauty and for its mineralogical and geological interest. The guided visit lets you admire these formations, in a lit setting at constant temperature, which makes it a pleasant family outing, on the road of the Cathar castles.
