Le Parc floral de la Belle
The Parc Floral de la Belle, in the Vienne, covers six rolling hectares on the banks of the Belle. In every season, flowers, shrubs, plant collections and beds appear along paths winding beneath ancient trees.
The park occupies the estate of a 19th-century bourgeois house, with restored Poitou heritage (bread oven, greenhouse, wash house), an old master's house, a priest's garden and an ornamental kitchen garden. The lower meadows and clearing have been landscaped, and a wetland and woods restored. Exhibitions and themed weekends are held: orchids, a horticultural show, roses, and autumn flavours and scents. Food is available on site. Nearby is Gençay and its medieval castle.
