Château d'Epanvilliers
The Château d'Épanvilliers stands in the commune of Brux, in the south of the Vienne, between Poitou and the Charente. This house, protected as a historic monument, is still lived in by its owner, who welcomes visitors himself.
The guided tour takes in some twenty furnished rooms, including a bedroom known as 'Madame de Maintenon's'. It conveys the atmosphere of a large country house of the past: furniture, décor and way of life. Tours can be given in French, German or English.
Since 2012 the château has also housed the Musée du Jeu Ancien, born of the owner's passion for games, whose collections trace the history of board games through the centuries. The site suits families and heritage lovers, and contacting the owner beforehand is recommended.
