Le château d'Oliferne
Built at the start of the thirteenth century by the Chalon family on top of the Pic d'Oliferne, the castle offers an exceptional panorama of the Ain valley. Destroyed in 1592 by Henry IV's troops, it is now being restored. A track from the hamlet of Boutavant leads to within 800 m of the castle; from there, the site is discovered along a "heritage trail" with interpretation panels.
The Pic d'Oliferne is an 807-metre mountain in the Jura, in the commune of Vescles. It overlooks the Ain valley, on the border between the Ain and Jura départements.
