Lac du Lampy

Aude, Occitanie

The Lac du Lampy, or Bassin du Lampy, is a reservoir in the Montagne Noire, in the commune of Saissac, in the Aude. It helps feed the Canal du Midi with water, as part of the great network of hydraulic works of the Montagne Noire. It is surrounded by beech woods and forests, within the Haut-Languedoc regional nature park, and offers a calm setting, especially in spring and autumn, when the forest colours are reflected in the water.

You walk there on paths that follow the lake and cross the woods. The site combines with the nearby Lac des Cammazes in the Tarn, with Saissac and its castle, and with discovering the Canal du Midi, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
