Lac de Serre-Ponçon
Lac de Serre-Ponçon, with an area of 3,000 hectares, is the second largest artificial lake in Europe.
Its laid-out beaches at Embrun, Crots, Savines-le-Lac, Chorges or Le Rousset, its wild coves, its 80 kilometres of shores and its surroundings make Serre-Ponçon a true "sea in the mountains".
It is the ideal place for kitesurfing and windsurfing, pleasure boating, kayaking or fishing.
Lac de Serre-Ponçon is an artificial lake in the Hautes-Alpes and Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. It results from the construction, in 1959, of the Serre-Ponçon dam on the Durance, a little under two kilometres downstream of its confluence with the Ubaye.
