Parc Animalier de Serre-Ponçon

Hautes-Alpes, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur

The Parc animalier de Serre-Ponçon is at Le Sauze-du-Lac, on the shores of Lake Serre-Ponçon in the Hautes-Alpes, between mountains and turquoise water. Open in the warmer months, it focuses on Alpine wildlife and birds of prey.

The highlight is the show of birds of prey flying free over the lake, with vultures, eagles and other raptors. Feeding sessions with commentary give a close look at Alpine marmots and red foxes, seen in their enclosures once out of hibernation. The park also has owls and farm animals.

Visitors can round off their day with a behind-the-scenes visit to the falconry to see the keepers' work. The panoramic setting makes it a pleasant stop on a trip around the lake.
