Lac de la Glère
The Lac de la Glère is a Pyrenean lake in the commune of Barèges, in the Hautes-Pyrénées. At 2,103 metres, it covers about two hectares and is ten metres deep. It lies in a cirque of rocks and high grassland, with the Glère refuge just above it.
It is reached by a hike from the Barèges valley, climbing gradually through an increasingly mineral landscape with fine views of the Lavedan summits. The site is popular with hikers, being close to the route to the Néouvielle massif and other lakes. Take water and warm clothing and keep an eye on the weather.
