Massif du Néouvielle
The Néouvielle massif is a mountain massif of the Pyrenees, in the Hautes-Pyrénées, about 25 kilometres long and 17 wide. It peaks at the Pic Long, at 3,192 metres, and also includes the Pic de Néouvielle, at 3,091 metres. It is made of granite, which gives it pale rocky landscapes, dotted with high-altitude lakes and mountain pines.
It is famous for its lakes, notably Aumar and Aubert, surrounded by pines, and Lac de Cap de Long, a reservoir lake at the foot of the massif. A nature reserve protects a large part of this territory, where the alpine fauna and flora are remarkable. There are many hikes there, from the easy walk around the lakes to great ascents: check accesses and weather before leaving.
