La Ferme des Reptiles
The Ferme des Reptiles is a park devoted to reptiles in the hamlet of Brouzenac, in the commune of La Bastide-de-Sérou, in the Ariège, at the foot of the Pyrenees. It has one of the largest reptile collections in the region, with more than two hundred animals according to the tourist office.
The visit is guided. Visitors meet caimans, giant tortoises, boas, pythons, cobras and iguanas. Some animals can be handled and the giant tortoises can be stroked in their outdoor enclosures, which makes the visit particularly lively for children and adults alike.
The route alternates indoor and outdoor areas, and the guide explains the way of life, diet and particularities of each species. A camera is strongly recommended. It is an original stop for a family day in the Ariège, to combine with other animal parks in the département.
