Xploria

Xploria is an open-air natural history museum-park in the Castagnès forest, on the Sabarat road, at Le Mas-d'Azil in the Ariège. It traces the history of the Earth along a forest trail.

The route uses giant illustrations and a 'time corridor'. Visitors meet life-size reconstructions of dinosaurs and prehistoric animals and giant prehistoric mammals, as well as very ancient ferns and orchids in a natural setting. They can touch real fossils and take part in digging workshops; during school holidays, special workshops let children step into the shoes of a palaeontologist.

The site has a picnic area, toilets, a car park and a shop. The reception, time corridor, shop and toilets are on one level, while access to the forest park is only partial. Groups of 20 to 100 people are welcome.
