Parc de la Préhistoire (ex-Parc pyrénéen de l'art préhistorique)
Opened in 1994 near Tarascon-sur-Ariège, a few kilometres from the decorated caves of Niaux, the Pyrenean prehistoric art park offers immersion in the life of the Palaeolithic people who populated the Ariège valleys about 14,000 years ago.
The route combines reconstructions of camps, flint-knapping and cave-art workshops, and above all a partial facsimile of the Niaux cave that lets you discover the techniques of prehistoric artists without risking damage to the original site. An immersive finale in a 360-degree projection room completes the visit, particularly suited to families.
