Cascade d'Alzen
The Alzen waterfall is a natural waterfall of the Pyrenees, in the Arize massif, in the commune of Alzen, near La Bastide-de-Sérou, in the Ariège. Fed by the Alzen stream, it rises at 612 metres' altitude and falls about 43 metres, amid a forest environment.
It is easily accessible by a marked path from departmental road 21. Its flow varies quickly with rain and generally remains modest from late June; in winter, great cold can turn it into an ice waterfall. The descent behind the waterfall is a canyoning site, and the GRP of the Tour de la Barguillère passes nearby.
