La Clue de Riolan
The Clue de Riolan is a narrow limestone gorge carved by the Riolan stream in the hinterland of Nice, in the Alpes-Maritimes. Deep between high white walls sculpted by erosion, it can be seen from the old bridge that spans it.
A path follows the torrent and reveals the pools and potholes carved into the rock, a site popular with hikers and canyoning enthusiasts. Considered one of the finest gorges in the département, it offers a wild, unspoilt setting, particularly spectacular in autumn when the surrounding vegetation turns to blazing colours.
