La Cascade de Terrisse

Cantal, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

The Terrisse waterfall lies near the hamlet of La Terrisse, in the commune of Vèze, in the Cantal. The Sianne tumbles over black basalt columns at the head of a small natural cirque surrounded by trees and vegetation, at about 1,110 metres. The drop is said to be more than twenty metres high.

The site, discreet and little marked on maps, is reached on foot in five to ten minutes from a small car park. A dry-stone wall was built in 2007 by the Alagnon management board. There is little shade and swimming is forbidden.

The waterfall can be visited as a detour from the 'Au fil de la Sianne' loop, a circuit of about twelve kilometres. Lac de Vèze is a few minutes away by car.
