la cascade de Costeplane

The Costeplane waterfall is in the commune of Le Lauzet-Ubaye, in the Ubaye valley, where it falls about 40 metres through the Blache ravine. The site was listed by order of 9 January 1939 and faces the Pas-de-la-Tour ravine. It is glimpsed from the road and you can also get closer thanks to a small car park and a short path, which fits into walking loops starting from Lac du Lauzet-Ubaye.

Its flow is very variable: low in summer and more spectacular in spring, early summer or after heavy rain. From the viewpoint, the Ubaye stretches out below, while across the valley, the Dormillouse military battery, perched at 2,505 metres, dominates the landscape and seems still to guard the access to the valley.
