Cascade de Chaumie
The Chaumie waterfall lies in the upper Verdon valley, in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, above the hamlet of Chaumie in the commune of Colmars. The site is known for its drop of some thirty metres, in a green mountain setting.
It is reached on foot from the entrance to the hamlet, where you can park. The path climbs behind the Saint-Clair chapel, winds between a few houses, crosses meadows, then tackles a steeper final section up to the waterfall. The path is narrow and fairly steep in places. The round trip takes about an hour and a half; the route is graded as moderate and waymarked in yellow, then yellow and red.
The walk can be part of a longer route between Val d'Allos and Colmars-les-Alpes, via Chaumie-Haut and Chaumie-Bas.
