l'Ile du Beurre

Rhône, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

The Île du Beurre is a natural site at Tupin-et-Semons, in the Rhône, on the banks of the Rhône 40 km south of Lyon, protected since 1987 by a prefectoral biotope protection order. It is one of the last alluvial areas in the Rhône département to have kept its natural dynamics through the floods. The island is home notably to beavers, as well as many heritage plant and animal species.
