Grotte de Fontrabiouse

Pyrénées-Orientales, Occitanie

The Fontrabiouse cave is in the village of the same name, in the Pyrénées-Orientales. It is developed for guided visits over a route of about 800 metres of galleries. You discover spectacular mineral formations, including aragonite, calcite and onyx, as well as translucent stalagmites and fistulous stalactites, fine tube-shaped concretions.

The concreted halls and galleries show stalactites, stalagmites and curtains, formed by the slow deposit of limestone dissolved in seepage water. The cavity stays cool all year round, which makes the visit pleasant in summer as in winter. The visit is led by a guide, and online booking is possible.
