Grotte de Foissac
Set between the Aveyron gorges and the Lot valley, this underground site is remarkable for its mineralogy and its prehistory.
Easy to access for everyone, you can admire a dazzling work of art sculpted by nature. Water over millennia has chiselled these marvels with tender colours and graceful shapes, all reflected in the calm pools of the river that winds through.
You find there the whole history of our ancestors (5,000 years ago – well before the appearance of writing): the objects and the dead, left there, in the impressive setting of their life, the works, the rites and the prints in the clay.
A free visit of the prehistoric park and the museum completes this walk through time. You can admire many archaeological remains discovered in the cave, testimony of the presence and activities of prehistoric people.
