Château de Belcastel
Built 1,000 years ago on a solid rocky spur, this magnificent fortress overlooks one of the most beautiful villages of the Aveyron. Born on a ninth-century chapel, the château de Belcastel saw its history shaped over the centuries by generations of knights, nobles and outlaws. But the end of the sixteenth century marked the abrupt end of this ascent when the castle was abandoned and left in ruin. Although private, the castle is open to visit and the public invited to discover what is both a historic monument and an art gallery. The idea of this unique cohabitation is the work of Animazing Gallery in Soho, New York. Since 1984, indeed, Animazing has successfully organised exhibitions whose playful beauty is a pleasure for the senses.
