Château du Bosc

Aveyron, Occitanie

The Château du Bosc stands at Camjac, in the heart of the Ségala in the Aveyron. This former medieval fortress, dating back to the 12th century, is listed as a historic monument. It is best known as the home of the painter Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, who spent part of his youth here, and is part of the Route des Seigneurs du Rouergue.

The building is a quadrilateral around a courtyard closed by a crenellated porch and postern. The present windows were opened in the second half of the 19th century, when the old moats were filled in.

The château is run by an association, the Institut TLB, and can be visited by appointment. Temporary exhibitions are shown, notably in the old small stable converted into galleries.
