Château de Brousse

Aveyron, Occitanie

The castle of Brousse, or Brousse-le-Château, stands on a rocky spur above the meeting of the Tarn and the Alrance, 50 km from Rodez, Millau and Albi. It overlooks one of the most beautiful villages in France: the commune is listed among the Most Beautiful Villages of France and has several protected monuments, including the Church of Saint-Jacques-le-Majeur.

This fortified castle belonged to the Counts of Rodez and Arpajon and illustrates medieval military architecture in the Rouergue. Visitors can explore the ramparts and the courtyard, with views over the Tarn valley. The village, clustered at the foot of the castle, is pleasant to explore on foot.
