La Figarella

Haute-Corse, Corse

The Figarella flows down from the heights of the Balagne to the Mediterranean near Calvi, in the Haute-Corse, crossing a bed of pebbles and granite boulders polished by the current.

An old multi-arched stone bridge, visible from the commune of Moncale, spans the river and is a landmark for swimmers who come to enjoy the clear pools nearby. Less known than the rivers of the south of the island, the Figarella offers one of the best combinations in the Balagne of coolness, accessibility and natural beauty.
