Courchevel

Savoie, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

Courchevel is a winter sports resort in the Tarentaise in Savoie. It is a prestigious ski resort, like Gstaad in Switzerland or Aspen in Colorado.

Courchevel is divided into five separate villages: Saint-Bon-Tarentaise, Le Praz or Courchevel 1300, Courchevel Village, Courchevel Moriond and finally Courchevel 1850 (actually between 1,750 and 1,900 m). Courchevel is part of the 3 Vallées ski area (with Méribel, Val Thorens, Les Menuires and La Tania), the largest ski area in the world entirely linked on skis.

Courchevel has an altiport, the Courchevel Altiport, whose runway is reputed to be one of the most technical in the world.

A free shuttle service links the different levels (1850, 1650, 1550, Le Praz, Saint-Bon) as well as Bozel, La Tania and outlying districts (Chenus, Jardin Alpin, Altiport for 1850; Belvédère for 1650; Brigues for 1550).
