Pralognan la Vanoise
Pralognan-la-Vanoise is a commune and resort in the Savoie, in the Tarentaise, at the foot of the Vanoise National Park, the first national park created in France. The village occupies a mountain cirque dominated by high peaks and the Vanoise glaciers.
It is above all a hiking destination: the GR55 crosses the commune, and many routes start from Les Fontanettes, at about 1,650 metres, or from the village. Park refuges such as La Valette serve as bases for trips to the glaciers and the Dôme de Chasseforêt, an emblematic summit of more than 3,500 metres, accessible with a guide.
The resort also offers alpine and Nordic skiing and snowshoeing in winter, and via ferrata and other mountain activities in summer. It is about an hour and a half's drive from Chambéry.
