Château du Fleckenstein

Bas-Rhin, Grand Est

Rising above the forests of the Northern Vosges and the Palatinate, the castle of Fleckenstein, in the Bas-Rhin, remains, despite its destruction, an outstanding example of medieval architecture. This imposing fortress, renowned for its exceptional military defences, was destroyed in 1689 by the troops of Louis XIV.

Its ruins have withstood the ravages of time and still retain their grandeur. In the 21st century the site gained new facilities to welcome its many visitors.
